Opportunities are available for persons interested in teaching strings in school classrooms on a substitute or regular basis. Candidates should have some collegiate training in music education and be proficient on at least one stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello or bass). Classroom teaching experience would be desirable. These positions are part-time and are paid on an hourly basis.
Private lesson instructor - string bass
The DGSP seeks an accomplished bass performer and private lesson teacher to teach private students in its Charlevoix and/or Petoskey studios. Candidates should have advanced training in performance and those with pedagogy training and teaching experience would be preferred. This position is paid on an hourly basis in relation to the number of students who request lessons through the DGSP program.
Assistant Classroom Instructors
Opportunities are available for persons interested in assisting DGSP instructors in school classrooms. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of basic string technique on at least one stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello or bass) and have familiarity with the education of students of elementary and middle school ages. These positions are part-time and are paid on an hourly basis.
The DGSP has a variety of opportunities for those seeking to assist with the musical education of children and youth. Most activities are occasional, such as preparations for performances, camps or other scheduled DGSP events.
